Ripon CA: On 08-20-13, at approximately 1008 hrs, the Ripon Police Department responded to Burns Truck and Trailer (1496 W. Santos Ave) regarding a commercial burglary. Upon arrival officers discovered unknown suspect/s/ had broken into several storage areas. The suspect/s/ stole truck parts worth approximately $11,000. The parts included aluminum rims, electronic control modules, and engine parts.
Working in close cooperation with the victim business, officers learned the suspect/s/ were attempting to sell these unique parts in Stanislaus County. Detectives immediately went to work on this case. Through the course of this investigation a suspect was identified. The suspect was known to be on active California Post Release Community Supervision in Stanislaus County. Probation officials were advised of the investigation and they assisted in identifying and locating the suspect. On 08-21-13, the suspect was located. After questioning by Ripon detectives, he was taken into custody without incident. Detectives located approximately $8,000 worth of stolen property, in plain view in the bed of the suspect’s truck. The property was positively identified by the victim as being stolen from Ripon.
Tony Arreola (34) of Ceres, was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on a felony commercial burglary charge. The investigation into this case is ongoing.
Department spokesperson, First Sergeant Steve Merchant said the close cooperation between the victim business, area businesses, and the probation department were the keys to quickly solving this case. Merchant commended Detective Alex Burgos, and Detective Sgt. Terri Jensen for their steadfast determination, and quick action regarding this case.
