FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
RIPON POLICE VOLUNTEERS WORK HARD TO ASSIST LOCAL FAMILIES DURING THE HOLIDAYS
Ripon Ca- Ripon Police Department Volunteers in Police Services (VIPS) are working hard this holiday season to assist local families. The volunteers have received toy donations from the Ripon Lions Club, and bicycle donations from the Ripon Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. Police department volunteers traveled to Berkley, to a meeting of the California Financial Crimes Investigators Association, to receive additional toy donations. Toys and bicycles being donated to the police department volunteers are being distributed through the “Police Special Delivery” program, in conjunction with the Ripon Fire Department.
In addition to distributing toys and bicycles, the Volunteers in Police Services have made cash donations to Ripon Interfaith Ministries. The VIPS donated $500 for Thanksgiving and another $500 for Christmas. These funds assist local Ripon families in need.
VIPS President Rich Searcy, said the money the VIPS donate is not from public
funds. Police volunteers sell refreshments at the annual Emergency Vehicle Show, and they gratefully accept donations from the public, in order to help local families through out the year. VIPS President Searcy can be contacted at 209-599-0266 if you are interested in becoming a police volunteer, or if you wish to make a donation to the program.
