Police Respond to Call of Man with Gun

Officer uncovers Stolen, Fictitious, Fraudulent Items and Drugs on Car Stop

Ripon Ca. –  On Wednesday afternoon, Officers responded to the Bike Bridge parking lot located at Parallel Ave. and Reynolds Dr. on a report of a man attempting to kidnap a woman at gunpoint.

Officer Brett Delgado who was patrolling in the area arrived shortly after the emergency call.

The suspect, 34 year old Jose Vasquez Sanchez of Hughson, had reportedly accosted a young female adult in the parking lot of Bike Bridge while she was with a group of other young adults getting ready to enjoy the water at the Stanislaus River. Suspect Sanchez demanded sex from the victim and eventually retrieved an altered cut-down shotgun from his vehicle. It was reported Suspect Sanchez chased after the victim, after she fled, ending up in the front of a residence on Reynolds Dr. where he physically assaulted her.

Suspect Sanchez was immediately taken into custody by Officer Delgado. The weapon was recovered at the scene.

Suspect Sanchez is in the process of being booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on several charges including attempted rape by force, assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, sexual assault, and a variety of other charges.
